In celebration of Children’s Day 2025, the pupils of Royal Pride Montessori School embarked on an educational and exciting excursion to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja. The visit, held on Tuesday, 27th May 2025, was part of the school’s commitment to providing hands-on learning experiences that go beyond the classroom.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement and curiosity as the children arrived in their colorful uniforms, greeted warmly by the fire service officers. The event was not only informative but also fun, providing students with the opportunity to learn about the vital role firefighters play in our society.
🔥 Learning Fire Safety Firsthand
The officers of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service welcomed the students with open arms and began the session by introducing them to the basics of fire safety. They explained:
- What causes fires and how to prevent them
- The importance of fire alarms and extinguishers
- Emergency numbers to call in case of a fire
Children were also taught what to do if they ever encounter a fire at home or school, using the simple but powerful message: Stop, Drop, and Roll.
🚒 A Tour of the Fire Station
One of the highlights of the visit was the guided tour of the fire station. Pupils had the rare opportunity to see:
- Real fire trucks and how they operate
- Firefighting gear and protective equipment
- Rescue tools and hoses used in emergencies
The excitement peaked when some of the students got the chance to climb into a fire truck and handle a fire hose (with supervision), making it a moment they’ll remember for years to come.
👩🚒 Inspiring the Next Generation
The visit also served as an opportunity to inspire future heroes. The fire officers shared stories of courage, service, and dedication, showing that being a firefighter isn’t just about fighting fires—it’s about saving lives and serving the community.
Many of the students left the headquarters expressing dreams of becoming firefighters when they grow up, a testament to the impact such practical experiences can have on young minds.
🎉 A Memorable Children’s Day
The excursion concluded with group photos, light refreshments, and heartfelt thanks from the school’s staff to the fire service team for their hospitality and commitment to safety education.
At Royal Pride Montessori School, we believe in nurturing well-rounded learners through engaging, real-world experiences. This Children’s Day visit not only broadened our pupils’ knowledge but also deepened their appreciation for community helpers and the value of service.
